Of all the state-of-the-art technology we offer at Edmond Dental, digital x-rays are by far the most useful. A valuable diagnostic tool, digital x-rays tell Dr. Tucker the story of what is happening inside your teeth and under your gums, areas that he can’t see during a visual examination.

We only take low-dose digital x-rays as needed to diagnose conditions or as part of your ongoing dental history. Even so, our digital x-rays emit about 80 percent less radiation than older film x-rays. Radiation is everywhere around you in the environment, and a set of bitewing x-rays ray exposes you to about the same radiation as a two-hour airplane ride.

Digital dental x-rays are also invaluable because Dr. Tucker uses them to keep his patients informed about their oral health needs. He can share the x-ray images with you on your chairside monitor so you can see in detail what’s going on and why we recommend treatment. 

Another benefit of digital x-rays is that no harmful chemicals are used, so they are safe for the environment. And with our digital recordkeeping, it's easy to send your x-ray images electronically to insurance companies and specialists, as needed.

Digital dental x-rays are invaluable, but they show us only a small portion of your mouth. Sometimes Dr. Tucker needs to see the bigger picture, and that’s when he recommends a panoramic x-ray.

A panoramic x-ray shows us the entire mouth in a single image and focuses on the jaw and skull. Instead of looking for cavities or issues with individual teeth, he uses panoramic x-rays to identify impacted teeth and the relationship between your teeth and jaws to identify TMJ problems. This information is invaluable when Dr. Tucker plans tooth extractions, root canals, and orthodontic treatment.

Unlike intraoral digital x-rays, panoramic x-rays are extraoral, meaning they are taken outside of your mouth. This makes them perfect for our patients who have a strong gag reflex or special needs and can’t tolerate intraoral (inside the mouth) x-rays

We are always looking for new ways to help improve your visits with us. At Edmond Dental, we are a fully digital office, including digital charts, software, and digital and panoramic x-rays.

With digital records, all your information is stored securely on our in-house network and is instantly available as needed for diagnosis, treatment planning, and monitoring ongoing conditions. We can also easily send your digital records to specialists and insurance companies with your permission.
